Region & Trips
Wesel-Büderich lies in the middle of the wide Rhine meadow landscape – an ideal base for bike rides along the Rhine, cultural outings to the Roman town of Xanten and relaxing days by the water. Here you'll find the finest destinations within cycling and driving distance.
Cycling
The Rhine dyke is just a few minutes' walk from the apartment – and with it the Rheinradweg (Rhine cycle path, EuroVelo 15), which runs along the river on level ground. If you prefer to cycle through villages and fields, follow the NiederrheinRoute, one of the largest interconnected cycle networks in Europe, with its tried-and-tested junction (Knotenpunkt) system.
E-bikes and bicycles are stored securely in our garage and charged free of charge. We keep cycling maps on hand for you. Popular day trips lead, for example, to Xanten, to the Bislicher Insel (nature reserve with wild geese) or upstream towards Rheinberg.

Culture
Around 15 km away lies Xanten with the LVR Archaeological Park (APX) – one of the largest open-air archaeological museums in Europe, which brings the Roman Colonia Ulpia Traiana back to life. The late-Gothic Xanten Cathedral of St Victor and the beautifully preserved old town round off the trip.
Also nearby: the Xanten lakes (Nordsee and Südsee) with a leisure centre, beach and water sports – a perfect destination for the whole family in summer.
